Sound [sonido in Spanish] (from Latin sonĭtus, with prosodic parallels found in the Spanish words ‘ruido’ [noise],
‘chirrido’ [squeaking], ‘rugido’ [roaring], etc.), in physics, is any phenomenon involving the propagation of mechanical
waves (whether audible or not), generally through a fluid (or other elastic medium) that generates the vibratory
movement of a body.
