“IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE MORE PUBLIC AREAS OF A PLAN ARE OPEN TO THE MOST IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS. THE DESIGN IS ALWAYS PREPARED WITH THE AIM OF IMPROVING THE URBAN LANDSCAPE AND ENHANCING WHAT IS ALREADY IN PLACE.”
What is the first thing to be analysed when taking on a new project?
What is already there is analysed, the environment, the plan provided by the client and the competition. Not necessarily in that order, but these are the things we take into account when we begin to work on a proposal.
How should a new hotel establishment relate to the environment (Ibiza)? And to its guests? What steps need to be analysed?
It is essential that the more public areas of a plan are open to the most immediate surroundings. The design is always prepared with the aim of improving the ndscape and enhancing what is already in place.For the definition of
the rooms, the visuals of the environment are taken greatly into account when deciding how they are to be laid out;
it is a way of embedding the new plan into the location.
In terms of the relationship between the u nd the establishment, we seek to make it sensorial a ay in touch with aspects of function and comfort.
What are the current fields of activity of Lázaro?What does your architecture contribute to other areas? (decoration, design, etc.)
At the present time, we are moving forward with a range of projects of all sizes, from projects involving urban planning and architectural definition to the development of products such as lamps and door handles, as well as in for shops, hotels, restaurants, private homes, spas, etc.
In these difficult times, what should the priority of an architectural studio be? Is internationalisation the future of the sector?Or, on the other hand, is renovation and refurbishment the area that should be given a higher priority?
In the case of LRV, there is a commitment to specialising in certain fields relating to interior design, focusing specifically on hotel, restaurant and retail projects. This strategy allows us to move forward with an internationalisation programme and also be part of teams th y out their operations in the renovation and refurbishment sector.
There is also a commitment to working with professionals in various fields (architecture, interior design, product design, graphic design, props) in order to be able to provide a holistic solution to the project that allows better control over the final appearance of the proposal and improves the client’s ability to manage it.
Finally, the studio is open to commissions for new plans to increase its specialisation. To give an example, the design of the VIP circle in the an Mamés Stadium opened the doors for us to other work in stadiums.
